Shackleton Technologies Ltd, a Dundee based IT Company, are completing the Etape in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. To help maximise their contribution, Shackleton are offering fellow cyclists a facility to track their position on-line; allowing friends and family to follow their progress on the day. In return for a £5 contribution to Shackleton's Just Giving site, they will provide fellow cyclists with 60 days access to their mobile GPS tracking website

What is Shack Track?
ShackTrack is a mobile phone application that uses GPS data and displays your live position on an online map for others to view. This application receives GPS coordinates and then submits them to a web service which displays your movements.

How much does it cost?
Data transfer rates as per your mobile phone contract or mobile phone providers charges.

When will this service be activated?
The Shack Track service will be activated one week before the race starts.
How long will this service last?
A 60 day subscription will start from the date of activation.
How does ShackTrack work?
Using a GPS signal, your mobile phone sends your live position co-ordinates to a website service which enables others to track your position via an online map. You have full control from your mobile phone. The service can be turned on and off from your mobile phone.
What if I do not have mobile phone reception?
Your coordinates are stored on your mobile phone and when you start receiving mobile phone reception your co ordinates are uploaded to the web and will be visible for others to view.
How do my friends and family track me?
Once you have registered, you will receive your account details via email. You can give these details to your loved ones and they can login into your account and track you during the race

Because this event takes place in the Highlands of Scotland it is inevitable that mobile phone coverage will be patchy and there will be an unspecified delay on the live-tracking map where coverage is lost.
